In many gravel quarries, especially in southern Germany, a large number of Triassic fossils can be recovered with the permission of the respective owner. 
What is particularly fascinating about the vertebrates is the great variety of possible finds. Marine reptiles such as the well-known Nothosaurus or the strange Tanystropheus romped about in the seas. The very large marshlands of the time were sometimes home to very large primitive amphibians such as the Mastodonsaurus or Plagiosternum. Archosauria, such as Batrachotomus, made the land unsafe.
